Our Pastor

Jay and Kim together with their beautiful family of four children, currently reside in Delta CO  where Jay is serving as Lead Pastor at CWI – Delta

Kim serves as the church worship leader, bookkeeper, secretary, and assistant to many of the different ministries within the church, as well as a full-time homemaker and runs one of 3 businesses they own.

Both Jay and Kim were raised and married as conservative Mennonites (Jay from Lancaster County PA and Kim from Adams County PA), together they established their home and family in Lancaster PA  where they lived for 4 and ½ years. In January 2006, they decided to move to Delta Colorado, and purchased a hardwood flooring business. The next several years were quite difficult moving to a brand new community and because of some questionable financial decisions brought hardships into their life. In 2009 after crying out to God for help they were invited to a weekend meeting where their lives were forever changed. They experienced a life-changing encounter with the Lord that radically shifted their worldview and understanding of Christianity; which resulted in them Pastoring a new church plant that Pastor Sydney and Jennifer Ropp planted. The Lord had called Pastor Sydney and Jennifer Ropp to move to Lancaster Pennsylvania to assist Apostle Dale Armstrong with the work of our sister church Church of the Word International as the Assistant Pastor.

Ministry and Mission

As business owners, Jay and Kim believe wholeheartedly they have been called as Pastors and business owners. They are passionate about helping people come out of religion, hear from God, and fulfill and walk in their callings. Kingdom-minded business is a top topic for them and they want to see businesses and business owners flourish in what God has called them to do.

In 2013 Pastor Jay traveled for the first time to the country of Ukraine. This led to making several trips during 2022 and 2023 with the 10men Project bringing much-needed medical supplies and food to the frontlines of the Ukraine/Russian war. This led to partnering with the Odessa Praise Church and Pastor Vitaliyi as they continue supplying people with much-needed supplies. Since 2020 Pastor Jay has traveled throughout the Middle East and Europe establishing connections in Turkey, Iraq, Egypt, and Croatia.

Jay enjoys traveling and looks forward to more connections and the Gospel going out all over the world.

One of his greatest passions is to see people’s lives changed radically for Jesus and then walk in the destiny that Jesus has for them.

Our History

A Short History of Lancaster Church of the Word.

It all began in 2006.  On the 28th of May, my wife Teri and I gathered in a home with three other couples to pray. The Holy Spirit came on us so strongly in that little meeting that I remember mentioning to our host how “something was born in the Spirit tonight.”  We all agreed to return the following Sunday evening for another time of prayer. That following week there were dozens more who gathered, and as before we prayed only, and sought the presence of the Lord. It really surprised me how the word had gotten out, and how many hungry hearts responded.  That quickly we had outgrown a large home. Following the Lord’s direction, we held our first service the next week, on June 11, with over a hundred people in attendance. The following weeks were very foundational to all that the Lord has done and is doing.  I encourage you to enjoy these messages, as important now as they were then:

The Gospel is the Power of God, part one
The Gospel is the Power of God, part two
The Gospel is the Power of God, part three

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

– Psalm 23:1-4 (NIV)
